ABOUT PHIDIAS NETWORK..
Phidias, was the name of the EC – funded research Project in which the basic tools for medical modeling were developed by partners namely, Siemens, Zeneca, the Radiology Department of University of Leuven and MATERIALISE. The Phidias Network is a European project that started in 1998 and closed in 2002. The most important goal of this project was to demonstrate the value and clinical usefulness of individual anatomical models in the planning, simulation and optimization of complex surgical interventions. These models are based on high resolution CT image series and are fabricated using rapid prototyping methods. In the Phidias Newsletters, you will find several case studies about RP models.
